Introducing:  Ms Mary Chu - Piano
 
Mary Chu has started her musical education and academic piano instruction at the age of 6.  Throughout her years of training, she has received piano instructions from Winnie Ling, Melanie Yin, Vladimir Levtov, Marilyn Engle, and Charles Foreman.  Majoring in piano, she received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Theory and History at the University of Calgary.  Throughout her education, Mary has received scholarships from the University of Calgary and Alice Cobb Scholarship.  She has studied and performed abroad in Europe and has also received musical instruction internationally. 

 

Mary is a professional and dedicated teacher who has been teaching since 2002.  She has taught piano, theory and history at a music studio and privately at her home currently. Many of her students have received First Class honor with distinction through Royal Conservatory of Music piano examinations.  Mary has taught a wide range of students from the age of 3 to senior. She strives to pursue strong communication and understanding with her students and their parents in their musical studies. 

 

From 2005 until 2010, many of her compositional works were performed in Calgary for soloists and ensembles for piano, strings, and winds.  As a pianist, she has performed with Symphonic Band, World Music Ensemble and Chamber Music Ensemble of the University of Calgary.  Mary has also been an accompanist for many RCM examinations, recitals, juries, and competitions for voice, violin, flute and trombone.
